HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Hawai'i concluded competition at the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championship, winning one of three matches at John Hunt Park in Alabama. UH still finished a solid 9-5 combined over the course of the three-day event.
After being knocked out of the opening round of the Champions Bracket on Saturday,
Kaylee Glagau and
Brooke Van Sickle reeled off three straight wins in consolation play, including a win Sunday over Mikayla Law-Heese and Adriana Pereira of UAB, 21-17, 21-15 to advance to the finals of the "33rd Bracket." However, that's where their win streak stopped as Florida International's Lucie Pokorna and Alice Pratesi out-lasted the UH duo 14-21, 21-16, 15-11.
Meanwhile, the pair of
Kylin Loker and
Jaime Santer had a stellar weekend with a 3-0 start in pool play and a run to the Round of 16 of the Champions Bracket. The duo entered Sunday looking to take the ninth-place prize of the 64-team tourney, however they ultimately fell in a tough three-set match to Samaya Morin and Dana Roskic of Grand Canyon, 21-19, 12-21, 15-12.
The Rainbow Wahine will conclude its fall schedule on Thanksgiving weekend as UH hosts UCLA in a two-day event of exhibition pairs competition at Queen's Beach. The teams will be in action on Friday, Nov. 25 starting a 1 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 9 a.m.
