SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded play in the 74
th Western Intercollegiate after Wednesday's final round at the Pasatiempo Golf Club.
Senior
Justin Ngan carded a 1-over 71 to finish in a tie for 15
th place at 4-over 215. The Wailuku, Maui native was tied for the lead after the first round before a second round 76 pushed him down the leaderboard. Despite a 39 on his front nine that included four bogeys, a double bogey, and an eagle on the par-5 13
th, he went 3-under over his final nine holes with birdies at holes Nos. 2, 4, and 9.
The 15
th place finish is the highest for UH golfer at the Western since T.J. Kua tied for 14
th in 2012 with a 214 total. For the tournament, Ngan led the field with a 2-under total on the par 4 holes.
Freshman Ratio Vissuttipinate posted his best round of the tournament with a 2-over 72 that included a stretch of 3-under over his final six holes of the day. The Thailand native tied for 82
nd at 237. Senior
Justin Arcano went 4-under over his final four holes for a final round 75. The Wailuku, Maui native tied for 79
th at 233.
As a team, the Rainbow Warriors carded a 372, their best among the three rounds, for a 1136 total and 13
th place. Pepperdine ran away with the team title at 1046 while Stanford was runner-up at 1057.
Individually, San Diego State's Puwit Anupansuebsai, Pepperdine's Joe Highsmith, and BYU's Carson Lundell finished 5-under 205. Highsmith won the The Blue Jacket with a par putt on the fourth playoff hole.
