WAIPAHU—The University of Hawai'i soccer team battled until the final horn against UC Santa Barbara for a 0-0 draw Sunday night at Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Stadium.
The Rainbow Wahine (0-7-2) played 110 minutes of aggressive soccer for the program's second tie of the season, ending a seven-match losing skid. Unable to overcome the 'Bows tough defense, the Gauchos (4-6-3, 2-1-1) remain in the middle of the pack in the Big West Conference standings.
Throughout a scoreless first half, UH controlled the offensive pressure firing six total shots, with five on goal, compared to UCSB, who registered five shots but only two on goal. Compared to the Gauchos attack of five shots and only two on goal.
Through the 110 minutes of action, each team registered their chances as UH finished with 10 shots alongside the Gauchos' nine. UCSB recorded seven corner kicks, and the 'Bows picked up five.

Lauren Marquez and the backline picked up the team's second shutout of the season as Marquez collected two saves.
This week, UH will head back on the road for back-to-back matchups at UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton. Thursday's matchup against the Highlanders (3-7-1, 0-3-1) puts UH against one of the bottom teams in the conference standings as UCR has not won a match since September at Weber State. In comparison, Sunday's match will be against the Titans (4-9, 1-3), a team who has recently seen their struggles dropping matches to UC Irvine and Long Beach State.
