"WarriorCast" is a monthly podcast centered around storytelling and the in-depth workings of the athletic department, told by coaches, student-athletes, administrators, and support staff. Hosted by assistant media relations director Eric Mathews, a former 10-year plus veteran of the broadcast industry, listeners of the podcast can expect new episodes on the second Tuesday of every month with the occasional surprise episode.
Over the last six weeks, the University of Hawai'i athletics department has revisited and celebrated the 10th anniversary of the memorable 2010 season. In those weeks, stories have been told through first-hand experiences, historical videos, and unforgettable photos.
For the final week of #Remember2010, head coach
Charlie Wade of men's volleyball joins "WarriorCast" to look back on his first season with the program. For 11 years as an assistant and associate head coach with the women's program under legendary head coach Dave Shoji, Wade built his reputation as one of the best strategists and recruiters in the game. He left for a short period to gain head coaching experience but returned in 2010 to lead a men's program that had hit a rough patch.
Wade explores his mindset as an assistant, as well as discovering a note he wrote himself while preparing to return to the island of O'ahu. While discussing his first season, the conversation shifts into the present and the program's pursuit of a National Championship.
