UH Athletics Wins Gold In National Marketing Campaign

ORLANDO – University of Hawai'i Athletics captured the gold medal in Group II of the Season Ticket Sales Campaign in the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) "Best of" Awards program for the new H-Pass initiative.

The H-Pass was introduced at the start of the 2019-20 season which allowed fans on-demand access to tickets from mobile devices for UH-sponsored regular-season home ticketed sporting events for football, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's volleyball, and baseball. Each pass cost $190 and pass holders were able to select seats to the event of their choosing and tickets were delivered digitally to a mobile device. Pass holders were also given the opportunity to pay in full or payment plan over 10 months.

"We are honored and appreciate the recognition from NACMA for our entire external team's efforts in growing our ticket base," Athletics Director David Matlin said. "We had an initial goal of 100 H-Pass members and reaching over 550 in our first year was a pleasant surprise. We are grateful to our community for their passion of UH Athletics and helping us get this prestigious honor from our peers. Special acknowledgement to our ticket operations team for creating, developing and implementing the H-Pass program, which attracted new fans to UH Athletics. Go 'Bows!"

Initiated in 2003, the NACMA "Best Of" Awards program honors outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 16 categories, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness. In 2019-20 nearly 900 entries were submitted through the NACMA Community.
