The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced their AVCA High School Beach All-America teams with Rainbow Wahine freshman Ilihia Huddleston earning a spot on the first team.
A member of the 692 West Beach Volleyball club, Huddleston captured top finishes at numerous tournaments including first at the CBVA tournament, first at the BVCA National Championship, and went undefeated at the AVPFirst. She earned third in the AAU National Championships and fourth in the USAV Jr. National Championships.
The Oceanside, Calif., native continues a tradition of high school All-Americans landing at UH. She is the 10th high school All-American to make her way to Mānoa since the inception of the AVCA honors list in 2014. Huddleston is also UH's third first-team honoree in the last four years, joining
Kylin Loker (2018) and
Morgan Martin (2016).
Ilihia looks to follow in the footsteps of her older sister, Hi'ilawe, a four-year letterwinner for the SandBows who graduated last year. Last season's squad claimed its fourth straight NCAA top-four finish and concluded the season with 28 wins, marking UH's third straight season with 25 or more victories.
