NAPA, Calif.—Four members of the University of Hawai'i men's tennis team opened their 2019 Fall season at the College Tennis Invitational hosted by the Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif.
 
The Rainbow Warriors competed very well in the three-day tournament. Sophomore Andre Ilagan went undefeated in singles with straight set singles wins on all three days. On Friday, Ilagan held off Jan Kirchhoff of San Diego State, 7-5, 6-4. On Saturday, Ilagan overwhelmed Milos Dobic of UNLV, 6-2, 6-2. Ilagan finished the tournament strong with a 6-1, 6-2  win over San Francisco's Phuc Huynh.
 
Freshman Axel Labrunie made his Rainbow Warrior debut winning two singles matches and two doubles matches. The younger Labrunie notched wins over San Diego State's Armaud Restifo, 6-3, 6-4 and San Francisco's Garpered., 6-3, 6-4.
 
Both juniors Lucas Labrunie and Blaz Seric also won two-of three singles matches. Lucas Labrunie edged out UNLV's Tom Ciszewski in a second set tiebreaker to win, 6-3, 7-6 (5) and cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 win over San Francisco's Johnson. Seric coasted to a straight-set win over UNLV's Anton Ornberg, 6-4, 6-2. Seric concluded the tourney with a come-from-behine, three set win over San Francisco's David Woodland, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.
 
In doubles, the duo of Seric and Axel Labrunie held off USF's Johan Garpered and Phuc Huynh, outlasting the Dons in a tiebreaker 8-7 (5). On the last day UH's NO. 2 duo pulled away from Pacific's John Horoz Garner and Nathan Hampton, 8-3. while Ilagan and Lucas Labrunie was able to close the tournament with an 8-5 win over Pacific's Akram El Sallaly and Coby McCaig.
 
Up next for the Rainbow Warriors…two players—Ilagan and Lucas Labrunie will be competing in the Battle In The Bay tournament in San Francisco, Calif. from Sept. 19-22.
