LIHUE, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the 2019 Big West Championship with a fifth place finish following Tuesday's third and final round at the Wailua Golf Course.
The host and seventh-seeded Rainbow Warriors shot a final round 296 for an 895 total. Top-seeded Cal State Fullerton moved up three spots to capture the team title at 876, eight strokes ahead of runner-up UC Irvine (884). UC Davis (886) placed third followed by UC Santa Barbara (892), UH, Long Beach State and CSUN (896), UC Riverside (908), and Cal Poly (916).
Individually, CSU Fullerton's Matt Wilson took medalist honors with a 5-under 211 total after a final round 68. UCD's Thomas Hutchison was runner-up at 1-under 215 while UCSB's Zach Smith, the day 1 leader, finished five strokes back at even par 216.
UH sophomore
Justin Arcano finished in a three-way tie for fifth place at 3-over 219 after a 1-over 73. Sophomore
Matt Lloyd was one stroke back at 4-over 220 to finish tied for eighth place and his best showing as a Rainbow Warrior.
Senior
Cameron Kaneko capped his UH career with a 1-over 73 on Tuesday to finish at 226 and a tie for 20
thplace. Sophomore
Justin Ngan carded a final round 76 for a 232 total while junior
Nick Nelson placed 45
that 242.
The tournament concluded the 2018-19 season for the Rainbow Warriors.
