HONOLULU— The University of Hawai'i football team wrapped up its 2019 spring practice schedule on Saturday evening with the spring football game pitting Team Mauka against Team Makai.
Team Mauka prevailed 11.1 million to 9.2 million over Team Makai with junior quarterback
Cole McDonald completing two touchdown passes to senior wide receiver
Jason-Matthew Sharsh, as well as a pair of two-point conversions to senior wide receiver
Cedric Byrd II.
One of the more notable plays came from Team Mauka with McDonald completing a 50-yard pass down the far sideline to senior wide receiver
JoJo Ward, setting up the eventual second touchdown to Sharsh.
Redshirt freshman quarterback
Chevan Cordeiro showcased his playmaking ability with his feet, scrambling for a 15-yard touchdown score early in the first quarter. The play of the drive came on the two-point conversion as Cordeiro flipped the ball to junior offensive lineman
Ernest Moore from 10-yards out for the score.
Defensively both teams shined in big moments as Team Mauka kept Cordeiro in check, sacking him on five different occasions, including a wrap up by senior defensive lineman
Kendall Hune on a third and long situation.
For team Makai, junior defensive back
Eugene Ford jumped a route, picking off McDonald on the third drive of the night.
Now the Warriors will look to July as they'll begin to prepare for the 2019 schedule, with the first game of the season set for August 24th against Arizona at Aloha Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now.
