Kaneko Runner-Up At Duck Invitational; Best Career Finish

EUGENE, Ore. – University of Hawai'i senior Cameron Kaneko missed a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-4, No. 8 – his last hole of the day – for a chance to tie for medalist honors Tuesday at the Oregon Duck Invitational at the Emerald Valley Golf Club.

Instead Kaneko (71-69-72=212) had to settle for runner-up to Oregon's Ryan Gronlund, who carded a final round 69 for a 5-under 211 total. Kaneko, who was the Day 1 leader at 4-under, shot even par on Tuesday for a 212 total and his best career 54-hole score. The senior from Huntington Beach, Calif., was attempting to become the first UH medalist since 2016.

As a team, Hawai'i (295-309-311=915) finished in 15thplace with a 915 total. Oregon State captured the team title at 861, 10 strokes ahead of host Oregon (871).

Also competing for UH were sophomore Justin Arcano (72-78-82=232/t-67th), junior Trevor Hirata (80-82-75=237/t-80th), sophomore Justin Ngan (78-80-83=241/84th), and senior Bryden Salvador (74-86-82=242/t-85th).

The Rainbow Warriors will next compete in the Western Intercollegiate, April 15-17, in Santa Cruz, Calif.
