IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i beach volleyball players
Morgan Martin and
Pani Napoleon were named the Big West Pairs Team of the Week after going unblemished during UH's five-match road swing in Arizona. It is the fourth time in four weeks of competition that a UH pair has earned the honor.
The pair went 5-0 while playing at Grand Canyon and in the Arizona State Invitational. The pair started the week by capturing the clinching point in UH's 3-2 win at No. 17 Grand Canyon. The duo then went 4-0 in the Arizona State Invitational with two wins over the host Sun Devils as will as victories over pairs from No. 2 USC and No. 5 Pepperdine. All five wins came in straight sets.
Since being paired together for the first time at the No. 3 flight on March 16, the duo has gone a perfect 10-0. It has been a dominant run for the 2017 All-American Martin (Jr., Mission Viejo, Calif.) and the newbie Napoleon (Fr., Bonita, Calif.) who haven't dropped a single set in that span.
Up next for the Rainbow Wahine is the Big West Challenge, March 30-31, in Pismo Beach, Calif. UH will face six of its conference foes, including a pair of top 10 squads in No. 7 Cal Poly and No. 9 Long Beach State.
