PHOENIX, Ariz. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team carded a second round 1-under 283 to move up into a tie for 11
thplace after Day 1 of the Grand Canyon University Invitational Friday at the GCU Golf Course.
Play was suspended due to darkness with one group on the course. UH (296-283) completed both of its rounds with a 579 total that included a 296 in Round 1. Missouri-Kansas City shot a blistering 271 in Round 2 for a 553 total.
Four of UH's golfers shot even par or better in Round 2 led by junior
Trevor Hirata's 1-under 70. The Hilo, Hawai'i native is even par 142 for the tournament and in a tie for 26
thplace. Sophomore

th) is two strokes back followed by junior
Cameron Kaneko (75-71=146, t-59
th), senior
Bryden Salvador (76-71=147, t-68

Wichita State's Yannik Emmert is the clubhouse leader at 7-under 135 following rounds of 67 and 68.
UH's 36-hole score of 579 is its best of the season while its 283 in Round 2 was its second-best score in 2018-19.
The last remaining group will finish their second round at 7:45 a.m. PT with the third and final round beginning immediately after. The pairings will remain the same as today.
