STOCKTON, Calif.—The University of
Hawai'i men's tennis team (3-4) will hit the road this week to compete in the Pacific Mountain Invitation hosted by Pacific at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center in Stockton, Calif. The two-day tournament runs from Saturday, March 2 – Sunday, March 3. Due to possible inclement weather approaching, the tourney may start on Friday, March 1.
Eight teams will be competing in the dual match tournament. Teams participating this weekend are: Brown, Fresno State, New Mexico, Lamar, Loyola Marymount, San Francisco,
Hawai'i and host Pacific.
Hawai'i will play two matches on the first day of the tournament and one on the final day.
In singles, the Rainbow Warriors are led by freshman Andre
Ilagan and Sophomore Lucas
Labrunie. Both players have recorded five wins each.
Ilagan is 5-2 overall and 5-1 in dual matches. Since moving up to play at No. 1,
Ilagan is 3-1.
Labrunie is 5-4 overall and 4-3 in dual matches. He is 1-2 when playing at No. 2, and 3-1 when competing on the No. 3 court.
Together,
Ilagan and
Labrunie are also UH's top doubles team and the only UH duo to record more than one win.
Ilagan and
Labrunie are currently 4-2 overall and 3-2 in duals.
