KA'ANAPALI, Maui - The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course. The Rainbow Warriors slid down the team standings on the final day and finished 18th overall.
Junior
Justin Ngan led the 'Bows for the second straight day to finish with the team's lowest score over three rounds at 4-under 209 and tied for 36th overall. The junior birdied five holes on the final day for a tournament total of 12 birdies. His 209 total was a career-best 54-hole score.
Senior
Nick Nelson finished nine strokes back of Ngan over three total rounds (218, t-78). Freshman
Kotaro Murata and senior
Trevor Hirata both carded 224 (t-100) and junior
Kanata Irei posted 232 (t-113).
As an individual junior
Matt Lloyd finished the tournament with a score of 224, junior
Cole Yoshida carded a 233 (116th) and sophomore
AJ Teraoka shot 242 (118th).
Oklahoma won the team championships with a 47-under par score over three rounds and Georgia's Trent Phillips beat Oklahoma's Quade Cummins in a 7-hole playoff to take the individual title.
The tournament concludes the fall season for the Rainbow Warriors. UH will open its spring schedule with the Amer Ari Invitational, Feb. 6-8 at the Waikoloa Kings Course.
