Hanna Hellvig was named the Big West Women's Volleyball Freshman of the Week after helping the Rainbow Wahine win a pair of road wins to extend Hawaii's winning streak to nine straight.
The 6-foot-2 outside hitter from Lidingö, Stockholm, Sweden tallied 28 kills over the weekend as the Rainbow Wahine upended UC Davis in four sets and swept UC Riverside. She hit .310 for the week, including a solid .450 (11-2-20) against the Highlanders. She averaged 4.00 kills, 0.71 blocks and 0.43 digs per set.
Hellvig notched a match-high 17 kills on .237 hitting against UC Davis to go along with an assist, a dig and two blocks. Against the Highlanders, she tied for the match high with 11 kills, and added three blocks and two digs. She now has 20 double-digit kill matches this year.
Hellvig has earned more BWC Freshman of the Week Awards than any other Rainbow Wahine since the award was created in 2015.
