The University of Hawai'i men's golf team returns to the links for its annual trip to the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Oct. 7-8 at the Meadow Club.
A regular participant in the event, the Rainbow Warriors will make their ninth appearance in the tournament in the last 14 years and third straight after placing 14
th last season.
Hosted by California, the field includes 15 teams. Participants will play a total of 54 holes, 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Monday's round beings with an 8:15 a.m. PT shotgun start, and Tuesday's play begins with tee times at the 1st and 10th holes starting at 8:00 a.m. PT.
Meadow Club is a par-71 course played at 6,734 yards. Pepperdine is the defending champion. This year's field includes Boise State, California, Chattanooga, Fresno State, Hawai'i, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State, San Jose State, Santa Clara, St. Mary's, and UC Santa Barbara.
Competing for UH are
Justin Arcano,
Kotaro Murata,
Matt Lloyd,
Nick Nelson and
Cole Yoshida. Among the group, Arcano has the most experience having competed in both 2017 and 2018. Last year, he shot even par 213, which included a 4-under 67 in round two. In 2017, he was the team's top finisher with a 7-over 220 total.
Nelson competed in last year's event and tied for 66
th at 8-over 221 while Yoshida tied for 78
th. Murata was the team's top finisher in the season-opening Husky Invitational last month with a tie for 38
th at 147.
