'EWA BEACH, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team opened a busy week by carding a first round 306 Monday in the inaugural Hoakalei Country Club Invitational on the island of O'ahu.
The Rainbow Warriors are hosting the event at the picturesque Ernie Els-designed course, the first of two tournaments UH will host this week in the 50
th state.
Junior
Justin Ngan shot 1-over 73 to pace the Warriors, who sit in 20
th place heading into Tuesday's second round. The Wailuku, Maui native posted four birdies on his round and is tied for 49
th place. Freshman
Kotaro Murata is tied for 75
th at 3-over 75.
No. 41 Ole Miss leads the team standings at 270, six strokes ahead of 32
nd-ranked East Tennessee State (276). The tournament's highest ranked team, 10
th-ranked Louisville, is tied for fifth at 285.
Ole Miss' Charlie Miller shot a 7-under 65 to lead the field. A pair of ETSU golfers – Archie Davies and Shiso Go – are one stroke back at 6-under 66.
