SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team remained in ninth place following Round 2 of the Big West Conference Championship Tuesday at the Sandpiper Golf Club.
The Rainbow Warriors improved nine strokes from their first round score with a second round 292 for a 593 total. UC Santa Barbara holds the lead at 561 after a second round 279 and are six strokes clear of second place Cal Poly (567). CSUN and Long Beach State are tied for third (569) followed by Cal State Fullerton (580), UC Irvine (581), UC Davis (583), UC Riverside (588), and UH.
Sophomore
Cameron Kaneko leads the Hawai'i contingent at 1-under 143 after an even par 72 on Tuesday. Junior
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon and freshman
Taiga Iwasa each posted second round 1-over 73 and are tied for 30
th (147) and 38
th (152), respectively.
Senior
Pono Tokioka carded a 74 and is tied for 35
th at 151 while sophomore
Sam Schwartz is tied for 43
rd at 159 after a 79.
CSUN's Felix Mory continues to hold the individual lead at 8-under 136 with his second straight 68. LBSU's Joe Fryer is one stroke back after a second round 66.
The championship concludes on Wednesday.
