KOHALA COAST, Hawai'i—The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team concluded its fall schedule on Sunday against powerhouse Stanford. The Cardinal swept the Rainbow Wahine, 7-0 at the Hawaii Tennis Center at the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island of Hawai'i.
The Rainbow Wahine fell by just a break in two of the three doubles matches. On the No. 1 court, Stanford's Melissa Cord and Caroline Lampl held off UH's
Klara Pribylova and
Nikola Dolakova, 6-4, while Hawai'i's No. 2 duo of
Roxanne Resma and
Michelle Pits lost by the same score of 6-4 to Stanford's Kimi Yee and Janice Shin.
Stanford dominated in singles, winning all six matches in straight sets. UH's Pribylova battled and pushed Stanford's Lampl, but fell 7-5, 6-3 on the No. 3 court. Hawai'i rookie
Taylor Lau was edged out by the Cardinal's Janice Shin, 6-3, 6-3 on the No. 5 court.
