SAN DIEGO, Calif.--The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team opened play at the USTA/ITA Southwest Regionals in San Diego, Calif. at the Barnes Tennis Center on Thursday.

In doubles, the lone Hawai'i duo to survive the Round of 64 was Alzbeta Houbova and Klara Pribylova who defeated Arpe Bagunyan and Elisaveta Nosenko of CSUN, 8-2. On Friday, the Hawai'i pair will take on No. 2 seed Gabby Andrews and Jada Hart of UCLA at 9:00 a.m.

In singles, six Rainbow Wahine advanced out of the Round of 124 to play in the Round of 64. Houbova knocked off Cal State Fullerton's Caisey Emery, 7-5, 6-2. Nikola Dolakova cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over CSUN's Emma Roenholt while Taylor Lau defeated UC Irvine's Yulin Chen by the same straight set score, 6-3 6-3. Marina Hruba, Klara Pribylova and Roxanne Resma all earned first round byes to advance to the Round of 64.

The only Rainbow Wahine to survive the Round of 64 was the senior, Hruba, who held off Yesica De Lucas of Loyola Marymount. Hruba edged out De Lucas, 7-6 in the first set, then blanked the LMU player for the straight set win. She will take on Elisabeta Volodko of UCSB on Friday morning at 10:00 am.
