No. 15 Women's Volleyball Sweeps CSUN For Sixth Straight Win

HONOLULU—The No. 15 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (18-5, 11-1 Big West) recorded its fifth-straight sweep on Saturday night, defeating CSUN, 25-9, 25-14, 25-16 on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. Annie Mitchem tallied a match-high 12 kills while McKenna Granato and Emily Maglio both added nine kills apiece.
 
Hawai'i took over right where they left off last night, posting its highest hitting percentage of the season, hitting .471 with 46 kills and just six total errors in 85 attacks. CSUN (8-16, 4-8 BWC) was held to just a .118 hitting percentage for the match. In the first set, the 'Bows recorded a perfect 100% in sideout percentage, going 10-for-10 in sideout opportunites. For the match, the squad converted on 34-of-41 sideout opportunities for a season high 82%. Hawai'i also out-blocked the Matadors, 4.5-to-1.0.
 
For Mitchem, it was her third consecutive match in which she led UH in kills. She hit .385 with 12 kills and two errors in 26 swings. She also added two service aces, three digs and two blocks for a match-high 15.0 points.
 
Granato and Maglio tied for second on the team with 10.0 points in the match. Maglio hit .692 with no errors in 13 attacks and tallied two blocks and two digs. Granato hit .350 with two errors in 20 attempts. She added a service ace and a dig.

Rookie setter Norene Iosia led Hawai'i with 26 assists and had three digs and two blocks. Together with Tayler Higgins, who had seven assists, the two setters combined to distribut the ball pretty evenly across the board, with 21 kills on the left, 15 in the middle and nine for the right.

Libero Savanah Kahakai was one dig shy of her 17th double-digit dig game.

CSUN was led by Aeryn Owens' 10 kills and eight digs. Nada Dragovic and Lauren Conati combined for their team's only block. 

The win marked UH's 17th-straight home conference win dating back to 2014. It was UH's 14th sweep of the season and their sixth-straight win. The victory also brings head coach Dave Shoji's career record to 1,197. He now needs just three wins to hit the 1,200 win milestone.

Hawai'i will go on its final regular season roadtrip next week, playing at UC Irvine on Thursday and at UC Davis on Saturday.
