HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior football team will have an additional member suiting up for spring practices, as first-year head coach
Nick Rolovich announced on Wednesday the mid-year signing of cornerback Zach Wilson to a letter of intent.
The 6-0, 175-pound cornerback from Upland High School in California was a 2015 graduate and is eligible to join the team with full eligibility in the spring.
During his senior year at Upland, Wilson accrued 41 tackles to aid UHS to a 10-3 record after winning the always-tough Baseline League and making a run to the semifinals of the 2014 CIF Southern Section Playoffs. Wilson tallied three interceptions and defended eight passes, forcing a fumble, blocking a kick and producing a safety for the Highlanders.
For his efforts, Wilson earned second-team all-Baseline League honors.
Wilson also ran track for UHS, emphasizing sprints and relays for the Highlanders.
Wilson joins offensive lineman and UCLA transfer Fred Ulu-Perry as mid-year signees eligible to practice in the spring at UH.
