Live ScoringLIHUE, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team dropped three spots to ninth place after day two of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate, Thursday at the Wailua Golf Course.
The Rainbow Warriors shot a second round 306 and trails leader No. 23 California (573), No. 31 New Mexico (578), No. 24 UNLV (578), No. 49 Texas A&M (581), No. 17 Virginia (592), UTEP (595), Arizona (597), and Colorado State (598).
Arizona's George Cunningham and New Mexico's Andrej Bevins share the lead at 6-under 138 while UNLV's John Oda, a Moanalua High School graduate, is tied for third at 139 along with California's Shotaro Ban.
UH sophomore
Skye Inakoshi led the "A" team after shoot an even par 72 and is tied for 17
th place heading into Friday's final round at 3-over 147. The Honolulu native was 4-under through 12 holes before fading with five bogeys during a six-hole stretch.
The theme was consistent for the rest of the "A" team who struggled closing out their rounds. Junior
Scotty Yamashita shot a 3-over 75 but finished his round with four straight bogeys. After seven holes, the Honolulu native was 3-under following three straight birdies at holes Nos. 9-11 but finished 75 and is tied for 21
st at 4-over 148.
Junior
Justin Chu shot 80 after leading the Rainbow Warriors with a 71 in Thursday's opening round. The Honolulu native is 7-over 151 for the tournament, tied for 39
th place. Senior
Brian Lee shot 79 and is tied for 55
th at 153 while Lihu'e, Kaua'i native
Pono Tokioka shot his second straight 82 and is tied for 90
th at 164.
Freshman
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon leads the "B" sqad at 7-over 151 after firing 74 on Thursday. The Thailand native is tied for 39
th place one stroke ahead of senior
Ryan Kuroiwa, who shot 3-over 75. The 'Aiea, O'ahu native is 8-over 152 for the tourney, tied for 45
th.
Junior college transfer Chad McLay shot 81 and is tied for 73
rd at 157 in his first tournament as a Rainbow Warrior. Freshman
Adrian Lee shot 81 and is tied for 90
th at 164.
