Final ResultsPRINCEVILLE, Kaua'i – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team concluded the first of two neighbor island tournaments with a 15
th place finish at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational, Wednesday, at the Princeville Makai Golf Course.
The Rainbow Warriors will next head to Maui to host the inaugural Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, Nov. 7-9 at the Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course. The 13-team field includes three ranked teams including No. 4 Oregon, No. 30 Clemson, and No. 39 Georgia.
UH wrapped up the third annual Warrior Princeville Makai Invite by shooting 300 on Wednesday to finish the tourney at 884. No. 11 Georgia Tech went wire-to-wire and shot a tourney best 264 for an 809 total, 15 strokes better than runner-up Arizona State (824).
Individually, Pepperdine's Frederick Wedel held off San Diego's Grant Forrest and Georgia Tech's Ollie Schniederjans by three strokes to capture medalist honors. Wedel shot a final round 69 to finish 20-under 196.
UH's top finisher was sophomore
Skye Inakoshi, who shot his third straight round under par with a 2-under 70. Competing as an individual, Inakoshi tied for 21
st and completed the tournament at 5-under 211, to tie for his best collegiate score.
Freshman
Adrian Lee finished his first collegiate tourney with a final round 72 to finish 1-over 217 for the tourney and a tie for 47
th place. Lee also competed as an individual as well as sophomore
Pono Tokioka who struggled with a 79 and totaled 224 for a tie for 67
th.
Among the UH golfers competing for the team score, senior
Brian Lee posted a 75 on Wednesday to finish at 220 and tie for 58
th. After a disastrous first round 80, junior
Scotty Yamashita continued his solid play with an even par 72 to along with a 71 on Tuesday. Yamashita tied for 65
th at 223 along with teammate
Ryan Kuroiwa, who shot 75 after consecutive 74s.
Also competing for UH were junior
Justin Chu (74-73-78=225/t70th) and sophomore
Zachary Braunthal (73-75-78=226/t72nd).
Freshman
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon completed his first collegiate tournament in 83
rd place with a 248 total (88-78-82).
