Round 2 Results
KAHUKU, O'ahu- The University of Hawai'i men's golf team completed the second round of the John A. Burns Intercollegiate Thursday at the Arnold Palmer Course at the Turtle Bay Resort.
UH's “A” team (302-301), starting on the 10
th tee, shot a second round 301 and currently sit in 10
th place with a total score of 603. The “B” team (309-312) started on the 1
st tee and shot a 312 for a two-round score of 621 and are currently in 14
th place.
The nation's top-ranked team, California (284-282), are on top of the team standings for a second straight day and have opened up a 16-stroke lead after shooting a second round 282 for a total score of 566. The Golden Bears are seeking their third straight title and becoming the first team to do so since Oklahoma State from 1993-95.
BYU (292-290) currently sits in second place with a total score of 582 followed by New Mexico (287-300) at 587 and Texas A&M (294-295) at 589.
California's Josh Stalter (67-70) shot a second round 70 to give him a 137 overall and his second day on top of the individual standings. Stalter's teammate Max Homa (71-68) currently sits in second place, two strokes back of the lead with a 139 total. Homa went down to the wire on the final day of last year's tournament with defending-champion Julian Suri of Duke.
For the Warriors' “A” team, senior
Cory Oride (74-76) sits in a tie for team-best 29
th place after shooting a second round 76 for a total score of 150. Junior
David Saka (78-73) shot the low round for UH on the second day shooting a 73, giving him a 151 total score and a tie for 36
th place. Saka had an eight-hole stretch in which he shot 3-under par.
Freshman Scott Yamashita (71-80) sits in a tie for 36
th place with teammate Saka, after shooting an 80 for a total score of 151. Both junior
Nainoa Calip (83-74) and sophomore
Brian Lee (79-78) sit in a tie for 65
th place with total scores of 157 respectively.
For the “B” team, sophomore
Ryan Kuroiwa (75-75) shot a second round 75 for a total of 150, tying him for the team-lead with Oride. Sophomore
Reo Saito (76-79) shot a 79 for a total score of 155 and currently is in a tie for 58
th place.
Junior
Tommy Yamashita (83-75) shot a 75 to give him a two round total of 158. Yamashita shot one-under on his final eight holes of the day and is sitting in a tie for 68
th place going into Friday.
Senior
