UH Athletes Complete First Day Of NCAA West Prelims

Day 1 Results

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Hawai'i javelin throwers Karen Guravska and Kellsey Trimble and shot putter TeRina Keenan were in action during the first day of prelims at the 2012 NCAA West Preliminary Round Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
 
All three failed to advance to their respective event finals.
 
Keenan, a senior from Auckland, New Zealand, finished 37th in the shot put with a throw of 47-1 (14.35m). The three-time Western Athletic Conference discus gold medalist will compete in the discus prelims on Friday.
 
Trimble, a senior from Overbrook, Kan., tied for 34th in her first NCAA Regional with a throw of 136-6 (41.62m). Guravska, a senior from Riga, Latvia, placed 45th at 128-4 (39.12m).
 
The meet continues on Friday with another day of prelims. Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine is Samantha Balentine in the high jump.
