Warrior Golf Returns To Fresno State Lexus Classic

The University of Hawai'i men's golf team makes a return trip to the Fresno State Lexus Classic, Mar. 7 and 8, at the Sunnyside Country Club in Fresno, Calif.
 
Competing alongside the Warriors will be host Fresno State, BYU, CSU Bakersfield, Fresno State, Kansas State, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Pacific, Sacramento State, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, and UTEP. Also competing are three teams that ranked in Golfweek's top-50: San Diego State (14), Duke (21), and Michigan (35). 
 
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday, competing on a par-72 course checking in at 6,950 yards. Rounds on Monday will begin at 7:45 a.m. PST (5:45 a.m. HT) with a shotgun start and rounds on Tuesday will begin at 8:00 a.m. PST (6:00 a.m. HT). 
 
The Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic-formerly the Pepsi Golf Classic-began in 1964 under the direction of former Fresno State golf coach Larry Pape. His venture, which began with six of the best West Coast teams, has blossomed into one of the most prestigious events on the collegiate tour. From 1967 through 1974, seven of the eight Classic individual champions went on to PGA stardom. 
 
This year's defending team champion is BYU. This years defending individual champion is Robbie Fillmore from BYU.
