HONOLULU – On senior night at the Stan Sheriff Center, the No. 6 University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team swept New Mexico State (25-15, 25-11, 25-23). The Rainbow Wahine close the Western Athletic Conference season undefeated at 14-0, and are now 26-1 overall. The Aggies fall to 10-4 in conference and 21-8 overall.

Senior Kanani Danielson posted a match-high 11 kills to go along with 10 digs. Brittany Hewitt had a match-high six blocks and Jane Croson added 10 kills in Hawai'i's final regular season contest as a WAC team.

Meredith Hayes led New Mexico State with nine kills.

UH dominated the Aggies to start the match. The 'Bows grabbed an early lead and never looked back en route to a 25-15 win. Senior Chanteal Satele recorded a kill and a block to help Hawai'i to an 11-4 lead. NMSU clawed backed in the set on a Stephanie Ziegler (6 K) kill, but five straight points by the Rainbow Wahine pushed the lead to 17-10.

The 'Bows carried the momentum into set two, cruising to a 25-11 win. The Aggies hung around early, as Hayes recorded a kill to cut the Hawai'i deficit to 11-7. But it was all 'Bows from there, as they took off on a 14-4 run to close the set. Senior Alex Griffiths delivered four straight service aces to seal the win.

The 'Bows had to earn their set three win, as NMSU raced out to a 7-3 lead. UH rallied and would eventually grab a two-point lead midway through the set. The teams traded points before a Hayes service error and a Croson kill gave UH the two-point win and the sweep.

Following the match, seniors Alex Griffiths, Chanteal Satele, and Kanani Danielson were honored for their contributions to Rainbow Wahine volleyball.

There were 8,546 tickets issued for the match, and a turnstile count of 7,103.

UH now travels to Las Vegas, Nev. for the WAC Tournament, entering the field as the No.1 seed with a first-round bye. Tournament play begins on Nov. 21 with Hawai'i playing its first match Nov. 22 at 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT).
