Final Results
FAIRFAX, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished in 16th place at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, Tuesday, at the Meadow Club. The Warriors improved each round, beginning the tournament with rounds of 292 and 287, and ending with a 284 to post an 863 total (+11).
Top-finisher for UH was sophomore
Cory Oride who tied for 45th place (71-73-70=214). Oride matched his career-low round (70) and his second-best 54-hole score (214) to lead the Warriors for the third time in his career.
Also competing for the Warriors were juniors #T.J. Kua# (70-72-73=215) who tied for 50th and
Jared Sawada (73-82-68=223/T71st) who carded a career-low 68 in the third round. Freshman
Tommy Yamashita (78-72-73=223) tied for 71st in his first collegiate tournament, while sophomore
Henry Park (78-70-77=225) tied for 75th with a eagle in the second round.
Host California captured the team title with an outstanding 48-under par, 804 (262-266-276), two shots ahead of second place San Diego State. Individually, Alex Kang of SDSU took first finishing just one shot ahead of the field at 16-under par (62-67-68=197).
The Warriors return home to host the Kaua'i Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 24 through 26, at the Puakea Golf Course in Lihue, Kaua'i.
