HONOLULU – The sixth-ranked University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team won in three sets for the second straight night, beating UT-San Antonio 25-15, 25-9, 25-14 Friday, the second day of the Honolulu Advertiser Volleyball Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center.
The Rainbow Wahine improve to 6-2 on the season and square off against No. 10 Stanford at 7 p.m. Saturday night for the tournament championship. Stanford beat Weber State 3-0 Friday, while Weber State and UT-San Antonio will play at 5 p.m.
Overall UH was led by
Kanani Danielson and
Brittany Hewitt, who each had 10 kills. Danielson hit .625 for the match, with 10 kills on 16 attempts and no errors. Hewitt tied a career-high with 10 kills and hit .643.
The Rainbow Wahine cruised to a 25-15 victory in the first set. UH had a balanced offensive attack, with Ferrell leading the way with five kills. Danielson and
Aneli Cubi-Otineru each had three kills and Kaufman and Hewitt added two kills each. Mafua set the offense to a .556 hitting percentage and had 13 assists.
UH continued its strong play in the second set, leading to a 25-9 win. Hewitt had four kills in the set, while Danielson and Kaufman each had three kills. Mafua was once again led the offense with 11 assists, while UH hit .417.
In the third set, UH had several different combinations on the floor and won 25-14. Cascioppo had three kills in the set, while
Catherine Fowler had two kills and
Alexis Forsythe added three kills.

Stanford 3, WeberState 0
The Cardinal took the match 25-16, 25-20, 25-16 to improve to 2-0 in the tournament. Weber State fell to 0-2 in the tournament and will face UT-San Antonio at 5 p.m. Saturday, while Stanford faces UH at 7 p.m.
Stanford was led by Cassidy Lichtman, who recorded 10 kills, hit .450, had 14 assists and eight digs. Stephanie Brown and Kayley Spelman had seven kills and Alix Klineman and Janet Okogbaa each had five kills.
Weber State was led by Jenna Leggat, who had a match-high 11 kills. Chelsea Bair added eight kills and seven digs and Emily Jones had six kills.
