No. 3 Rainbow Wahine Extend Win Streak With Sweep Over Idaho

MOSCOW, Idaho – The third-ranked University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team won its 21st straight match, beating Idaho 25-12, 25-15, 25-21 Saturday night at Memorial Gym in Moscow, Idaho.
 
The Rainbow Wahine improve to 25-2 on the season and 15-0 in WAC play, with their regular season finale set for Monday at Utah State. UH also improved to 7-0 on the road this season.
 
On Saturday night, senior Aneli Cubi-Otineru had a match-high 16 kills, hitting .375 for the match and added eight digs.
 
Stephanie Ferrell had nine kills and Kanani Danielson had seven kills, hitting .353, while recording 10 digs. Dani Mafua had 36 assists, five kills and three blocks and Amber Kaufman and Brittany Hewitt each had five kills and Kaufman added four blocks.
 
In the first set, UH started strong, taking a 12-2 lead, going on to win 25-12. Cubi-Otineru had eight kills, hitting .727 for the set. Ferrell had four kills on four swings with no errors and Kaufman and Hewitt each had two kills. As a team, UH hit .556 for the set, recording two team blocks and holding Idaho to a .000 hitting percentage.
 
UH went-back-and forth early on with Idaho, before pulling away for a 25-15 victory. Cubi-Otineru had four kills in the set, while Danielson and Ferrell each had three kills. Hewitt and Mafua recorded two kills each. As a team, UH hit .387, while holding Idaho to a .172 hitting percentage.
 
The Rainbow Wahine played a little closer set in the third, but beat the Vandals 25-21. Cubi-Otineru and Danielson had four kills in the third set, while Mafua had three kills and Kaufman and Ferrell added two kills. UH hit .178, while holding Idaho to a .073 hitting percentage.
 
The Rainbow Wahine wrap up the regular season Monday against Utah State at 7 p.m. MT. UH will return home following the road trip, before heading to the WAC Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev.
