HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team (11-3) defeated Cal Baptist (19-6), 12-7, Saturday in a non-conference match at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex. Earlier in the day, the Rainbow Wahine defeated UC Santa Barbara, 11-5.
Sophomore Leoni Van Der Molen had a match-high six goals for UH, which has won seven of its last eight matches. Freshman Carmen Eggens scored three goals. Juniors Kelly Mason and Angela Turnbull and freshman Samantha Motekaitis also scored one goal each.
Freshman Sara Gralitzer finished the match with five saves in her second start of the season.
The Rainbow Wahine started out slow and led the match by one point at the half. UH exploded with nine goals in the second half to seal the victory over the Lancers.
UH will play again on Sunday at 12 p.m. against Cal State Northridge at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
