Heinemann Ousted At Waikoloa Futures

WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i - University of Hawai'i men's tennis player Sascha Heinemann was eliminated from the USTA Waikoloa Futures pro circuit tournament, Thursday, at the Hilton Waikoloa Resort.

The junior dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision to Ty Trombetta in the second round of the main singles draw. The Eschwege, Germany native, ranked No. 50 in the ITA preseason singles rankings, earned a spot in the main draw by winning two straight matches in the qualifying draw. Heinemann then rolled over Jeremiah Fuller in the first round of the main draw.

"I was very pleased with the effort Sascha gave in this tournament," Coach Nelson said. "He never gave up and is improving tremendously. He is learning from his mistakes and learning how to win."

Heinemann and the rest of the Rainbow Warriors will next compete in the USTA Honolulu Futures, a pro circuit tournament, Nov. 12-18, at the UH Tennis Complex.
