Rainbow Warriors Roll Over UW-Green Bay, 7-0

HONOLULU - The Hawai`i men's tennis team extended its win streak to four straight after a 7-0 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay, Saturday afternoon, at the UH Tennis Complex. The 59th-ranked Rainbow Warriors (7-4) have won seven of their last eight dual matches.

The 'Bows swept the six singles matches, all in straight sets and in relative ease as every match ended in 45 minutes or less. Freshman Sascha Heinemann defeated Tim Prudlow, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 1 court to earn his eighth straight victory at the top position. Senior Ryan Sceats skunked Mark Goldin, 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 court, a spot he hasn't played since his sophomore year due to fellow senior Bryon Weinberg's hamstring injury. Sceats has won 10 of his last 11 matches improving to 18-5 overall in singles play.

Senior Jarrod Diepraam beat Eric Plaushines, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 while senior Yasuo Sakurai won his first singles match of the 2005-06 season by defeating Eric Hines at court six, 6-1, 6-2.

After the six singles matches were completed, UH swept the three doubles contests. Sceats and Diepraam rolled over Goldin and Scott Dickert, 8-3, at the No. 1 court. The UH duo have won eight straight matches at court one. At the No. 2 court, the team of Heinemann and junior Chad Faulk continued their hot streak with an 8-1 decision over Prudlow and Plaushines, for their seventh straight victory. The duo of Sakurai and freshman Jeff Fitch earned a win over Eric Hines and Matt Keesey, 8-4, at No. 3.

The Rainbow Warriors will put their four-match win streak on the line, Monday, March 27, against the UC Davis Aggies. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
