UH Wraps Up Cross Country Season At West Regionals

FAIRVIEW, Ore. - The University of Hawai'i women's cross country team concluded the 2006 season by finishing 26th at the NCAA West Regionals, Saturday, at Blue Lake Park. Chantelle Laan led the way for the seventh time this season, finishing 68th overall at 23:07.86 in the 6K course.

Laan finished a spectacular junior season by capturing three individual titles and was the team's top finisher in every race.

Among the other UH finishers were Sharlene Carillo (24:35.11, 150th), Tava Tedesco (25:04.61, 164th), Michel Wilson (27:06.37, 192nd), and Megan Chock (30:18.66, 199th).

The event, which was won by Stanford, featured the top cross country runners in the west region. Stanford junior Arianna Lambie captured top individual honors, crossing the finish line in 20:58.85.

As a team, the Rainbow Wahine captured three title this season, all local meets, including the UH hosted Big Wave Invitational.
