DENVER, Colo. - University of Hawai'i defensive end Melila Purcell and receiver Ross Dickerson have been named WAC Defensive and Special Teams Player of the Week respectively for their performances against New Mexico State last Saturday.

Purcell, a senior from Pago Pago, American Samoa recorded eight tackles (5 solo), including three sacks in the 49-30 win against the Aggies. He also forced two fumbles including one that was picked up by linebacker Adam Leonard and returned 20 yards for a touchdown.

Dickerson, a senior from Waipahu, O'ahu, returned four kickoffs for 158 yards, including a long of 64. The Warriors scored touchdowns after three of the four returns while driving to the New Mexico State one-yard line before fumbling on the fourth return. Dickerson finished the game with 283 all-purpose yards after also catching six passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

Boise State running back Ian Johnson won the weekly honor on offense after rushing for 183 yards and four touchdowns at Idaho.
