SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The homecoming for Hawai`i men's tennis head coach John Nelson didn't turn out the way he wanted as his Rainbow Warriors fell to No. 41 San Diego State, 7-0, Friday, at the SDSU Tennis Stadium. Prior to taking over the UH job in 2003, Nelson coached at SDSU for 10 seasons, where he guided the Aztecs to five NCAA Tournament appearances.

SDSU (12-5) won its eighth consecutive match while UH dropped to 6-11 and suffered its eighth loss to a ranked team this season. The Rainbow Warriors next play at No. 75 UC Irvine, Sunday, April 10. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m. PDT at the Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The Aztecs took the doubles point after capturing the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. UH's No. 3 team of Chad Faulk and Bryon Weinberg pulled out the squad's only victory in either singles or doubles with a 9-8 tiebreak victory.

In singles action, junior Ryan Sceats had his 10-match win streak snapped by Armando Carrascosa, ranked No. 82 in the ITA rankings, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3. It was Sceats' first singles loss since November.

SDSU won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. UH's Derrick Lajola nearly captured his match at the No. 6 court, before Eugenio Romero rallied for a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4 victory.
