TULSA, Okla. - The Rainbow Wahine softball team defeated Tulsa 3-0 in the first game of a doubleheader at the Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex. Hawai`i's
Shannon Tabion (7-4)shut-out the Golden Hurricane, picking up her seventh win of the season. Maren Genow (6-5) took the loss for Tulsa.
Tabion, in her first start since March 24, threw the complete-game, scattering five hits, gave up no walks and struck out one. Only one Golden Hurricane runner, was able to reach second base for the game. That runner, Lindsey Galloway, reached on a double. The next batter Sara Dyer hit a two-out single to right, but Tracie Uchima gunned out Galloway with a one-hop throw to Dahlberg who was waiting for the runner at the plate for the third out in the second inning.
It remained a scoreless battle until the top of the sixth, when the Hawai'i offense came alive. Uchima led the inning off with a single right up the middle. Two batters later, Kaulana Gould hit another single up the middle to move Uchima to second. Tyleen Tausaga then hit a third single up the middle, scoring Uchima from second. Gould and Jennifer Hackett, who was pinch running for Tuasaga, both advanced on a passed ball. Then Ashley Ruff ripped a double to leftfield, scoring Gould from third and Hackett from second.
For Hawai`i, Dahlberg had a double and Ruff had a two-run double. Tara Harbert, in her first game back from a broken finger on her left hand on March 19th, went 2-3.
