Coogan Shuts Out The Cavaliers, 1-0

HONOLULU - In the first game of a doubleheader, Melissa Coogan scattered four hits while striking out eight Cavaliers in Hawai'i's 1-0 win over Virginia. For Coogan, she picked up her 75th complete game, and her 27th career shut-out on Tuesday at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

In the bottom of the fourth, UH scored the only run of the game. Tara Harbert led off the inning with a single up the middle. She advanced to second on a passed ball. Denise Dahlberg then ripped a double to the gap in right-center, scoring Harbert from second.

Harbert led the Rainbow Wahine going 2-3 with a run scored. It was her sixth multiple-hit game and she's the team leader in runs scored with 12.

For Virginia, Coty Tolar went the distance on the mound, giving up five hits, one walk, and striking out four.
