LOS ANGELES - Sophomores
Dana Buchanan and
Kelly Young won their events for the Hawai'i women's track and field team at the Occidental College Distance Carnival, last week. Young won top honors by running 2:09.79 in the 800m to earn an automatic spot in the NCAA Regionals.
Buchanan also won her event, the 1500m beating teammate Heather Scott with a time of 4:35.83. Scott finished in 4:40.93.
In the 5000m, freshman Sabrina Reeve posted the fifth fastest time in UH history in 17:22.59 to finish second. Teammate Chantelle Laan also participated in the event and finished 10th (18:41.81).
In addition, Ashley Monfort and Jessica Rohr posted Top 10 times in the 800m at 2:18.89 and 2:21.59, respectively.
