FRESNO, Calif.-- The University of Hawaii men's golf team slipped two spots into eighth place after the second round of the Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships hosted by Fresno State. The Warriors shot a 14-over 298 and have a 36-hole total of 588 (+20) at the 6840-yard San Joaquin Country Club.
None of the Warriors shot under par on the second day of action as Matt Kodama, Kellen Floyd-Asao and Pierre Henri Soero each fired a three-over 74 at the par 71 course. Kodama (70-74--144, +2) is the top Warrior on the individual leaderboard. The senior is five strokes off the pace and in tie of 15th place. Asao (73-74--147, +5) is in 24th place while Soero (78-74--152, +10) moved up to a tie for 37th place. Also participating for the Warriors are junior freshman Cody Wolfenbarger (73-76--149, +7) and senior James Beston (74-81--155, +13).
Despite shooting seven-over in round two, SMU (277-291--568) continues to hold the team lead with a six-stroke advantage over second place UTEP. Graham DeLaet of Boise State, who shot even-par on day one, surged into the lead with a three-under 68 and holds a one-stroke edge over three others heading into the final day of action.
The WAC Tournament concludes tomorrow with the third and final round.
