Hawai`i Takes PCIYRA Team Race Title

STANFORD, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow coed sailing team won the PCIYRA Team Race Championships Friday to qualify for the ICSA North American Team Race Championships in Cascade Locks, Ore., on May 30.

Hawai`i and Southern California ended the competition with an identical 11-5 record, with the Rainbows winning the tie-breaker. Both schools qualified for the ICSA Championships. UC Irvine finished third with a 10-6 record, followed by Stanford at 9-7.

The winning team consisted of skippers Joey Pasquali, Bryan Lake, Matthew Stine and Eric Oppen, along with crewmembers Jennifer Warnock, Carly Allen, Cassandra Harris and Jeffrey Boyd.

The Rainbow Wahine sailing team won the PCIYRA women's championships at Keehi Lagoon last week and will try to finish a sweep of the PCIYRA titles this weekend when they compete in the coed dinghy championships, also held in Stanford, Calif., on Saturday, April 31, and Sunday, May 1.
