SANTA CRUZ, Calif.— The University of Hawaii men’s golf team stand in a tie for 14th place after the first two rounds of the 58th Western Intercollegiate hosted by San Jose State. Hawaii shot a first round 305 and hit 305 in the second round to total 610 through the first 36 holes at the 6,445-yard Pasatiempo Golf Course.
Leading the way for the Warriors is senior Matt Kodama who shot a 3-over par 143 in the first two rounds and stands in a tie for 20th on the individual leaderboard. Also participating for the Warriors are senior James Beston (154, T68 place), junior Ben Douglas (154, T68th), freshman Pierre-Henri Soero (159, 76th) and junior Kellen-Floyd Asao (168, 78th).
Colorado, Georgia Tech and California are in a three-way tie for first place after the first day with a total of 562, while UC Riverside (566) and Long Beach State (570) are in striking distance. Peter Tomasulo of California takes a two stroke lead into the final round with a four-under-par 136.
The Western Intercollegiate concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes of play.
