WAIKOLOA, Hawai`i-- The University of Hawai`i men's golf team finished the final day of their spring debut on the Big Island after shooting a third round score of 283 to move ahead of Oregon State and Houston. UH claimed 19th place in the Taylor Made/Waikoloa Intercollegiate with a three-day total of 887.
Matt Kodama, a senior from Las Vegas, was clutch in round three as he posted a five-under par 67 to finish with a three-day total of 214, two-under par. Kodama's third round performance propelled him from 58th place after round two to finish tied for 24th. Junior Kellen-Floyd Asao also posted a solid round three with a two-under par 70, which moved him from 77th place into a tie for 55th. Other UH Golfers were freshmen Geoffrey Stevens (224, T78), Cody Wolfenbarger (229, 93) and Pierre-Henri Soero (240, 105).
Georgia Tech continued solid play to capture the team total with a 23-under par 841. They were followed closely by UCLA (844) and Arkansas (845). Oklahoma's Anthony Kim was crowned champion after delivering consecutive five-under par scores in rounds two and three. He finished with an 11-under par 205.
Next up, the Warriors will host the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Feb. 18-20 at the Leilehua Golf Course on O`ahu.
