LAS CRUCES, N.M.-- The Rainbow Wahine golfers wrapped up the 2004 Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate with a 15th place finish after they shot 320 in the final round. Hawai`i posted a three-round total of 958 on New Mexico State's 6,319-yard golf course.
Sophomore Dale Gammie notched her first top-ten finish of the season as she led the Rainbow Wahine with a nine-over-par 225 after three rounds. Gammie, a native of Pukalani, Maui, shot a 79 in the final round to land herself in a tie for 8th place. Other golfers competing for UH were junior Kari Sur (244, +28), sophomore Megan Stoddart (248, +32), freshman Xyra Suyetsugu (249, +33) and sophomore Sara Odelius (WD).
Arizona State, who is ranked number three in Golfweek/Sagarin's performance index, swept the competition in the third round with a team total of 299. The Sun Devils finished nine strokes ahead of Texas Tech to win the team championship with a three-round total of 893. Not all was lost for Texas Tech though as Red Raider Kim Kolb fired an even par-72 in the final round to give her the individual title. On Oct. 25-27, the Rainbow Wahine golf team will be hosting the Kent Youel Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course.
