Rainbow Wahine Win Third Straight

LAS VEGAS - Hawai`i's Melissa Coogan tossed a complete-game and Stacey Porter scored twice as the Rainbow Wahine softball team won its third straight game with a victory over Southern Utah, 3-1, in Las Vegas.

Coogan (4-2) allowed only two hits and no earned run while striking out four and walking three.

Hawai`i had only five hits - two coming off the bat of first baseman Stacey Porter. Porter went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a walk.

Catcher Denise Dahlberg posted the only RBI for UH in a 1-for-3 effort at the plate.

Southern Utah took a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning before UH tied it up and added the other two runs in the sixth to pull out the win.

Hawai`i plays UNLV later today before the Rainbow Wahine move on to the West Coast to battle UC Riverside and Loyola Marymount.
