SAN DIEGO - The University of Hawai`i softball team made it two-straight this afternoon by beating Missouri at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego, 3-1.
The Rainbow Wahine (4-3), who earlier in the day beat host San Diego State, got help from the Tigers. Missouri (1-1)committed three errors which allowed all three UH runs to be unearned.
Hawai`i jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second when Stacey Porter singled to left, advanced to second on an error, then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Trisha Ramos, and eventually scored on Stacie Hirano's RBI ground out to shortstop.
Missouri would manufacture a run on a single, stolen base, sacrifice bunt, then a sacrifice fly.
UH would add the final two runs in the bottom of the third as Jennifer Tandarich led off with a single, moved over to second on Natalie Gonzales' bunt, before scoring on a two-base error off the bat of Tracie Uchima. Kate Judd then made it a 3-1 game with an RBI double to right center.
Hawai`i got a complete-game effort from Shannon Tabion (1-1) who scattered nine hits while striking out five and walking two.
The tournament concludes Saturday with UH taking on both Missouri and San Diego State in a game a piece.
