FRESNO, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i men's golf team finished 14th at the Fresno Lexus Classic this weekend, Oct. 6.
The Warriors were unable to get anything going as a team, with rounds of 297-303-302. Individually, sophomore Matt Kodama managed to get the first Top-10 finish of the year for a Warriors, building on a first round 67 to finish with a 216 total, tying for eighth. This was Kodama's third career Top-10 finish. Senior Norman-Ganin Asao put together three consistent rounds in the 70s, finishing with a 222 to tie for 26th.
Host Fresno State ran away with the team title, finishing with an 834 total. Their 30-under-par score was 40 strokes better than runner-up Stanford. Much of that total came from the Bulldog's Nick Watney's 13-under-par 203 total, which earned him medalist honors.
