Rich Hill recently completed his fourth season leading the University of Hawai‘i baseball program in 2025. Currently fifth in career wins among active Division I head coaches, Hill owns a career record of 1,208-819-4 and is 129-81 over his four seasons at UH. He is one of just five active Division I head coaches - and the youngest among them - to have won at least 1,200 career games.
Hill became the third-ever head coach for the University of Hawai‘i baseball program on June 18, 2021, after guiding the University of San Diego for 23 seasons where he won multiple West Coast Conference titles and coached two National Players of the Year. The 2025 season marked his 38th season coaching collegiate baseball and his 32nd at the Division I level.

COACHING HIGHLIGHTS (at UH)
- Has led Hawai‘i to its first four winning Big West seasons in each of his four years.
- First time that the Rainbow Warriors have had four consecutive winning conference seasons since 1980-92 (first 13 years in the WAC).
- Guided Hawai‘i to back-to-back 35-win seasons for the first time since 1991-92, winning 37 games in 2024 and 35 in 2025.
- Has led UH to a 70-27 home record from 2023-25, winning 25-plus games at Les Murakami Stadium in both 2024 and 2025.
- Hawai‘i has finished in the top 25 nationally and among the top three in the west in average attendance in each of his four seasons.

- The 'Bows won six games against teams that made the 2025 NCAA Tournament while winning three elimination games in the final week of the season.
- Finished 19th nationally in average attendance and first in the west region highlighted by 12 sellouts - the most in a season since 1994.
- Led UH to its best season in 18 years in 2024, going 37-16 overall and 20-10 in Big West play.
- The 'Bows posted the best record in the country over the final 20 games of the regular season, going 18-2.

- Hawai‘i led the country in ERA in 2024 at 3.78 while finishing in the top 10 nationally in WHIP (5th), walks per nine innings (6th) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (9th).
- Guided the Rainbow Warriors to 29-20 overall record and a fifth-place finish in The Big West in 2023.
- The 2023 'Bows ended the season on a nine-game home winning streak.
- The UH pitching staff led the conference in ERA (4.23) in Big West games for the second straight year.
- Helped the Rainbow Warrior offense put up the best numbers by the program since joining The Big West in home runs (36), doubles (100), runs per game (6.3) and slugging (.416).
- Led the Rainbow Warriors to their best-ever finish in The Big West in his first year with the program in 2022, coming in third at 19-11 in conference play.
- Hawai‘i jumped from finishing eighth in The Big West in 2021 to third in 2022, its biggest year-to-year improvement since joining the conference in 2013.
- Helped UH’s pitching staff lead the league in ERA (3.29) in conference play while the team’s 454 strikeouts on the year were the most by a Hawai‘i team since 2006.
PRIOR TO UH
- Guided the Toreros to nine NCAA Tournament appearances with a three-year streak (2006-08) and a pair of back-to-back appearances (2002-03; 2012-13).
- Won 1000th career game vs Gonzaga May 6, 2018.
- Recruited and mentored 93 former Toreros to MLB Draft selections or free agent contracts with 15 making it to The Show.
- Mentored Golden Spikes winner Kris Bryant, National Pitcher of the Year, Brian Matusz and has had 32 All-American or Freshman All-American selections in his 23 seasons at San Diego.
- In 2021, coached San Diego to a second-place finish in the WCC, with both an All-American and freshman All-American on the roster.
- Has had at least one All-American in 11 of the last 12 seasons and has had at least one All-American selection in 20 of his 23 seasons in San Diego.
- Won seven WCC Championships while with San Diego.
- Coached eight Toreros that were Team USA members since 2007 including himself as a coach with the 2015 U.S. Collegiate National Team which won series' over Cuba and Taiwan.
