HONOLULU - Following a whirlwind spring that the University of Hawaii men's volleyball team capture the school's first men's NCAA title, one might think that the past summer called for loads of rest and relaxation. But for a number of Warriors, the activity was just beginning.
While the majority of the Warriors concentrated on summer workouts and summer school, Warrior standouts Costas Theocharidis and Delano Thomas were busy taking swings in their respective national colors.
Theocharidis, a three-time AVCA All-American and the 2001 National Player of the Year, accepted an invitation to play with the Greek National Team over the summer.
The incoming senior outside hitter from Orestiada, Greece saw time at opposite for Greece, who will serve as host for the upcoming 2004 Summer Olympics.
Thomas, capped his outstanding freshman campaign by earning an invite to play with the U.S. Junior National Team.
The Sacramento, Calif. native led the U.S. to a bronze medal finish at the NORCECA Junior Men's Continental Volleyball Championship, earning All-Tournament and Best Attacker accolades.
